Hello! My name is Vickie. I graduated from Bluefield State College in 1988 with my Associates Degree in Nursing. I have been in nursing for over 27 years and worked in many areas of nursing in the hospital setting including med-surg, PACU, outpatient surgery, emergency room, critical care and the operating room. My passion has always been in the surgical setting.
I am currently the preceptor in the OR at the facility where I work in Christiansburg Virginia. I have worked in three different hospital ORs, two have been small to mid-sized rural hospitals and one a large teaching hospital (Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center on the neurosurgery team). I have obtained certification in critical care nursing (CCRN) and perioperative nursing (CNOR). I serve on several committees including Joint Commission prep and Code Blue. I decided to pursue my BSN for personal satisfaction and professional growth and opportunity. I am very excited to graduate this August and I look forward to the new opportunities that may be available to me in the future. |
